Female Submission Grapplers needed for short film NYC – free training

Female submission grapplers are needed for a scene in a short film that takes place in a non-gender divided grappling tournament.

No pay, but free training from now until the shoot in April. There will also be additional performance opportunities with potential pay.

WOMEN'S SUBMISSION STYLE WRESTLING CLASS in OAKLAND

In January I posted a notice on the 'Women in the Martial Arts' tribe message board about a wrestling seminar I was conducting. Several women showed up for the training and I promised everyone in class that a regularly schedualed women's submission wrestling class was immanent. Unfortunately things didnt happen as I had planned. (Sigh)

I've been waiting and waiting for the chaos in my my life to sort of settle down before commiting myself to something like this, but you know what? Life just doesn't work that way. Screw it. Let's do the class anyway! That was a big part of the motivation behind starting the Academy in the first place darn it! To get more women involved with submission wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!!!

If those of you reading this havent attended any of my classes or seminars in the past, the thing about the way I teach the women's classes is that the focus is more on technical precision, getting a good work out, and above all, HAVING A GOOD TIME. 'Winning' is defined by everyone in class walking off the mat at the end of the training in a better state of mind and body than when they first arrived. I think of it as being more along the lines of 'Fitness Wrestling' rather than the kind of training geared towards competition or tournaments. If that's what you're looking for I can steer you into the regular classes once you get comfortable on the mat, but what I've found is that most women really just come to class to get a good work out and have fun. The fact that they can do this and also learn some self-defense skills as a side benefit is just an added bonus.

* This is a no-gi (no uniform), submission wrestling class for beginning, female, grappling students.

* All ages and fitness levels are welcome.

* Price: $150 per five week session.

* Date: Women's Class starts AUGUST 1st

* Times: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8-10pm

STARTED UP INDY WRESTLERS GROUP AGAIN AT YAHOO

We had 1500 members before I cancelled the group due to some now recovered problems. We have newsletters from trinity,April Hunter(former nWo girl)/Slyck wagner Brown (all 3 of them are GREAT PEOPLE)
Slyck's newsletter is in the group, and the angle that a certain promotion wanted him & April to do (Racial thing) was insane. naturally,
The Dream Team" turned it & the Fed down.
Also get a lot of press lreleases from all over te nation (a lot of the NWA FEDS, NECW, UPW, etc)

Lucha Libre Results Sunday May 16

SAN DIEGO COUNTY’S LUCHE LIBRE RESULTS

Sunday May 16, 2004 by Michael Hosford

This was the first show in Escondido (San Diego County) in a series of bi-monthly shows. Considering that there was a street fair across town, and that our “home town hero” Rey Mysterio Jr. was on a WWE PPV today, I estimated around 350-450 people turned out which says a lot about the local fans, and also the people who skipped the
WWE PPV! Speaking of the WWE, like most indies, the wrestlers hit the hard cement, and did not have all the padding “Vinnie Mac” provides.Before I give the results, on the next show, Sunday May 30 at 4:00 pm,
The Original Psicosis will be on the card.
The opening match I did not catch the names of the wrestlers.
The 2nd preliminary had Onix and Hurican win over Scream and Danger.
The 3rd match was a Tag-Team 2 out of 3 falls match which had Tury Gonzalez and Cyber Tiger win over Lepra and Latin Boy
Match #4 was Killer Man and SoCal Crazy against Stigma and Colibra
The stipulation in this match is that the losing team, one person would un-mask, and the other person would get his head shaved. Killer Man had to un-mask after running away and being brought back to the ring.
So Cal Crazy was to have his head shaved. There was a beautician there and she started to cut his hair then all 4 men got back in the ring, and the beautician only got a few locks of hair as she ran out of the ring.
Semi-Final: Arandu, Superkend, and Mortis beat Septimbre Negro, Amnesia, and
Inferno.
Main Event: Loser loses mask. Hurican Jr. won over Soldier, which had plenty of outside interference. Soldier turned out to be Mike Flowers, whom most people recognized.
Again a good Family oriented show, with children under 10 free, and once again, Psicosis (from Luhca Libre, WCW, and the Indy scene will be there on May 30th.

An old running buddy of mine from the PacNW circuit had one of the best gimmicks going. Sadly, it became more real than reality for him, and destroyed his home life.

His wrestling person was "Pappy Finn," the obliquely-mentioned father from the Mark Twain novel Huckleberry Finn. His deal was any opponent may or not be his runaway son, who was due for a whipping. Like his fictional counterpart, Pappy Finn was fond of the whiskey, which led him to sink ever deeper into the illusion of his character, which led him to view his own children as needing punishment. Hard punishment.

Me? I'm one of those masked bad guys. I won't tell you my name, but I'm still out there, busting heads and taking my lumps.

Anybody else care to elaborate on the finer points of their mat personas?
